  - ASTIGMATISM should not prevent successful contact lens wear, as contact lenses fit close to the surface of the eye, most   astigmatism is automatically corrected by hard or gas permeable lenses. Alternatively SOFT TORIC CONTACT LENSES   will also correct the astigmatism.               Q.12
