If I'm gonna go down I'm gonna do it with style. You won't hear me surrender, you won't hear me confess cause you've left me with nothing but I have worked with less.

Helene Madison, 1930 Helene Madison started swimming at Green Lake when she was 12 years old. At 19, she swept the women's freestyle swimming events in the 1932 Olympics. That year, she held all 16 women's world freestyle records and 56 American awards. When she returned to Seattle, the city presented her with a car, a Navy and Police escort and Seattle's largest ticker tape parade. Madison was unable to compete further in Olympic events due to some brief and unsuccessful professional endeavors. The challenges of two failed marriages, debt, diabetes and cancer filled Madison's later years in life. This image depicts Helene Madison, her swimsuit displaying the Washington Athletic Club logo, at Fleishhacker Pool in San Francisco.

"The Colorado Society of Anesthesiologists (CSA) strongly disagrees with NPATCH's support for allowing nurses to administer anesthesia without physician supervision. Regrettably, their action was not unexpected. It is disturbing that NPATCH and others would support policies whereby a patient's life-and-death medical decisions would be made by nurses, not doctors. "Medical practice laws in Colorado clearly state that physicians are responsible for anesthesia care, and the Governor's opt-out plan is inconsistent with state law...
